Found this pair of decals inside owners manual. This is the back side (the part the decal comes off of).

I know in the D position it would give the driver more control (throttle steer and braking) but seems like like would severely limit your top end?

All about keeping the cars from hunting for OD (and locking up the torque converter).
As for top speed, have you ever wound out a manual, 3.08-equipped 5.0 in 4th and then dropped it into 5th?
