Default Fix/repair questions?

OK, I have to fix/repair the drivers side frame rail under the shocktower to the core. What is the way others would go about the fix?

1. cut and replace as sheets (find donor and remove panels fron spotwelds and reweld new pieces back in place of old)?

2. Take the car to a frame shop have it pulled then replace the pieces as needed like above.

3. Pull engine and trans then cut the part of the frame rail out and section the piece that is bent and rotted. There are some other pieces here and there that need to be sectioned like a litte of the floor board or replace as a whole.

What do you think?

Here are the shots of the items that need to be replaced. the shock tower looks as there is a little bend to it where the frame rail pushed back into it.

Matt

I wonder how many drill bits that guy went through to get all those spot welds out.

I'm a firm believer in a good frame shop. From my experience, always take it to a good frame shop first. There could be damage further back than you can see. Then disassemble carefully. I usually butt weld a good used piece back on after I clamp the replacement piece on & trial fit everything to make sure all parts line up. Doug

I guess I just needto find a frame shop (reputable) and find out how much this will run to get it pulled back into shape. While I'm waiting to get the funds together I will go and find a good donor car to pull that frame rail from.

OK I am going this route to fix the bends and rust..

I was talking to another mustang nut friend and he has a parts car that I am welcome to come and get the pieces I need off of that car as it will be going to the salvage yard soon. I will grab that driver side frame rail and maybe the passenger side apron (never know when you might need that stuff) plus the drivers side floor pan. I have a couple cracks under the reinforcement bracket.

I am going to have fun over the Christmas break.
