Default Oil cooler hoses

I'm learning very quickly replacement parts unique to my 87 SSP are not only hard to source but crazy expensive. Brings me to my ask... has anyone discovered a work around or alternative to NOS or used hoses for the oil cooler? other than deleting the cooler...Lol

The only work around that is available to a DIYer would be to take the original hoses to a local Auto Parts store and match the inner/outer diameters as well as hose type (has to be able to withstand hot coolant transfer) and get the “cut your length” hose.

The problem being is yes I/O diameters and hose type may be the same and *would* work. However, it’s the actual mold/shape/bends of the originals that keep them rigid and in place around the front of the engine. Plus the original is designed with the specific bends in them at the cooler and where they connect at the topside of the engine to prevent kinks.

Keep looking on eBay for good used replacements because they do surface from time to time and for less than a NOS set.

Again Jim @ PPI does have the NOS oil cooler hoses but, while pricey that’s the only source for a brand new correct SSP set.

The SN95 94/95 SVT Cobras used a similar cooler, but Ford designed hard lines that went up the front of the engine; (4) short rubber hoses were found at the top to connect to topside of engine and bottom for oil cooler. While a much better design with the steel piping, the (4) short hoses needed have also been long obsolete…. No one produces those rubber hoses (or the steel) either…so it’s not just an “SSP” thing when it comes to needing replacements. NOS or used is the only source for correct shape and fitment.

I do appreciate your response and help as I'm sure you have been down this road already. I was somewhat shocked by the price of NOS hoses but realize not many options exist. Luckly so far in my restoration the oil pump cooler is the only unique SSP accessory I will have to contend with.
