91 FHP Car

Restoring a FHP Mustang that will BE in the state of Florida is not a good idea. The FHP as an agency is not fan friendly to restorers of cars in the current color scheme for their cars. There is a law on the books preventing you from painting your car in the FHP colors.

I'm not sure on an asking price since I am using my phone to browse and it's kinda tedious. Hope others will chime in.

For those considering this car, I inquired and the seller wants at least $12,000 (twelve thousand) for this car.

For those interested, Mike felt this car was worth less than $3,500.

And for the record, the seller never asked $12k for the car.

Here's a cut & paste from our PM exchange:

"Chris,

I spoke with my father and he is under the impression the car is worth $12k based on rarity, overall condition and some opinions of some local mustang gurus. The value is really in the unmolested nature of the car....to someone who knows what they're looking at and knows what they want.

What would you offer on it, based on the photos and pending a visual inspection.

I would add that this car will not go cheap. If we can't find the right buyer, at the right price, we would just as soon keep the car.

Where in that post did I say, "we want $12k" for the vehicle? I simply posted this vehicle here for feedback from this group, as we felt that this group had a fair amount of experts on the topic. Instead of an honest, "hey man, nice car....I'd say it's worth XXXXX."

You can take it however you want it, but if you're going to post private business, at least be truthful in your posts.

Here's the response received from SparksSVT to the above mentioned PM:

"Your way off base with 12k. I sold a RESTORED 1993 CHP mustang for 12.5k. That's after the car was completely taken apart and a 6k repaint was put on it. I sold my 1991 FHP for 3500 and it was unrestored, about 140k miles and was in honestly better shape than yours which will need a lot of body repairs. Also FHP cars are some of the most common SSPs You can verify that with the documents available on the forums."

I'm still curious as to what the group thinks. From the research I've done, 1991 SSP Mustangs are among the more rare years - due to a very limited production run (which makes sense, as 1991 was a recession year). When you look at known, true SSP Mustangs from this year, there are fewer in existence than any other year of this body style.

Any other thoughts?
