Good stuff. Does this help with the equipment theory?

The scanner mounting marks looks the same but the shotgun rack is obviously different. I think this definitely confirms something different was done to conceal the shotgun and equipment.

Hi Everyone,
Long overdue update on CHP#5300. Research is always on going on the SMPV since there is little to no info on these cars. I pretty much know my car never made it to in-service as a B&W. It was pulled from line and sent to be painted the blue color. #5300 was the last of the 1989 SSP cars to make it through the line that it went into 1990. So after coming to the conclusion that I was just going to try color match a piece from the car I thought to look at the Ford 1990 paint codes. What I came up with is in 1990 Ford started painting mustangs with a Light Crystal Blue (MA) code. Ford painted approximately 412 mustangs with this color making it rare. Since my car was last in line around 1990, the color is a close match, #5300 in-service date was 8-7-90 that would make sense to paint #5300 that color.
The biggest road block has been the lay down shotgun mount. There really hasn't been a clear picture of a shotgun mount for the SMPV, so using the existing holes and best possible way to configure a shotgun mount in the lay down position; I made a mount that works.
My interior was modified prior, so I removed all of the interior, fixed problems (heater, steering column, electrical...ect) and installed the CHP wiring and equipment. My entire interior is back in the car except the rear quarter panels so the windows can be removed and replaced.
Currently #5300 is at a friend’s house getting the body work done and ready for paint. I plan on bringing it to Ripon this year for its first car show.
I would post some pictures but it seems that Fotki has changed how to copy IMG’s or I simply don’t remember how to post a photo. If I can’t figure it out soon I am going to close my Fotki acct and use Photobucket.
I have been in Alabama this last week so I haven’t checked on the cars progress so I will update soon…. Roll Tide.

Ken

Thumbs up

I know what its like getting a car ready for a Car Show. Last year I spent countless hours before the Ripon Show and still working on the car until the last day before it was time to leave. I felt at times I was racing the clock. The best of luck and looking forward to seeing it at Ripon this year.
