Mick, when you get a chance please PM or post the links to the Texas and Georgia websites so we can see what there is to work with in terms of adding cars to our VIN Project. The CHP cars are a mild PITA because they require 2 jpg files per car. The FHP cars only need one jpg file, but it is still time consuming to document each VIN on the Florida site due to the number of cars they ordered each year (but worth the effort).

Thanks Mike! These DMV searches are rewarding, but time consuming. For example, on the 92 FHP Mustangs I am closing in on completing 100 JPG files that show a POLICE branded title. There are probably another 20 or so left to go. Then I will start again with the 91's, then the 90's, 89's, etc. I can skip the 85's because they are already documented, and the 83's were the first ones done via DMV searches. Once I have all of the pictures files, then I will create the HTML pages for each car. It's very time-consuming, but once we are done with the FHP's we will have added hundreds of cars to the project!

Mick and I have gathered screencaps that document 791 FHP Mustangs (a few of which have already been verified with other information), but there are still 2 more years of SSPs to go before we are finished with the FHPs.

In addition to the twenty (20) 1983 FHP Mustangs that we recently confirmed, we just added the following Florida Highway Patrol SSPs to our project:

1984 - 21 total
1986 - 31
1989 - 78
1990 - 43
1991 - 54
1992 - 96
1993 - 83

That's 406 FHP Mustangs added to our VIN Project using the Florida DMV website for documentation. And these are just the ones that we know are FHP Mustangs because of other SSPs that are already verified. There are hundreds more SSPs to be added whose VINs make them "likely" FHP Mustangs, but not confirmed. These cars also have POLICE branded titles and are contained in the same consecutive unit number batch as other FHP Mustangs. We may pull a few Marti reports on some of these to confirm their DSO and see how they were equipped. But when these additional SSPs are added, their FHP status will be listed as "unconfirmed".

As a rough estimate, we now have over 2,000 SSP Mustangs listed on our VIN Project!

EDIT: And thanks Mick aka FoxChassis for grabbing many of the screenshots that we used to document these FHP Mustangs.

Good Job Bill!

My dad got me a copy of this magazine. In it they do a 5spd swap on an SSP Coupe. They don't say what year it is or anything else about it. I got the photo here from Muscle Mustangs facebook page. In the article you can see the car is black, red interior, trunk pop is close to the lower left edge of the access panel, and the car has a red interior without the black on the dash.

It would be nice to find a way to contact them to learn more about it Sad it's being modified...

Sam, that kinda sounds like the 1990 SSP that they modified on Stacey David's GEARZ Show -

That was a 6-speed swap though, and the interrior was gray in the above car.
