How did I miss that post!

Certainly could be it. CHP wouldn't park sale cars in the main lot after they were painted. Probably was used as an undercover, or travel car. Maybe was turned into a commander car?

Does your car have the tell tale CHP mounting holes in various locations?

Interesting how many cars at MT have inservice pictures to attach to them. I'd love to track down a couple of those cars...

That plate range is a total of 175. The VIN Project page has the first 170 plates (E422886 through E423055) accounted for. I wonder which VINs those last five plates (E423056 through E423060) were associated with? I just check the smog check plate lookup and there were no records for those last five plates.

Huh...

Got that info off of legit CHP documents. Stated 175 Mustangs.

Sam, I wasn't saying that info was not legit. What I was saying was on the 1987 VIN Project page there is a large batch of 172 VINs (184710-184881) and the first 170 of those plates are in that batch (all but the first two VINs). I was wondering which VINs the last five of those plate numbers were associated with.

In the middle of typing this reply I went back to the 1987 VIN Project page and found those last five plates in a batch of five VINs (219944-219948). So to you for helping me to discover that.

Mick

Also, in that batch of 170 CHPs, the first 85 had FY (Beige cloth) trim and the second 85 had FG (Medium Grey cloth) trim. I wonder what the small batch of five had for trim. I am also curious as to why those five were ordered separately and what the CHP used them for.

Mick, we need to add those 5 VINs to our project. Can you shoot me the complete VINs and any add'l documentation about those cars? I will add them to the project.

Bill:

I made a typo on the CUN. Instead of 219944-219948 I meant to type 229944-229948. I don't have any additional info other than what is already on each of those pages.
