Fender Prices

Does anyone know why such a price difference between fenders sold by Latemodel Restoration ($199.99) and National Parts Depot ($59.95)? I'm going to start collecting the parts I need for the body.

Maybe one is made in America and the other is made in China:headscratch:

I don't know. Seems strange.

I'd be Leary of the NPD fenders. They are probably made in china and will be a pain to fit to the car. I've seen some of these fenders that don't even follow the contours of the doors. You might try to find some nice original fenders and have them prepped for your car. Original ford tooling is always best. :)

Fenders

Visit a wrecking yard or better yet, craigslist for parts cars.
You can get good stuff at good prices sometimes.
like Chism said, original parts are best.

I would also find a good rustfree Ford Fender and use it. Even a brand new one will need to have dents and imperfections removed so there is no benefit to buying new unless you cant find an unrusty used one. Color doesn't matter because you will probably be taking it down to bare metal and primering anyway.

Thanks for the advise. I'll start looking for a used original.

Trunk Lid

What would you do for a trunk lid. Someone installed a Toyota Corolla wing on mine. So, now it's got four holes in the top and the bracing underneath had been cut away a little. Replace? Weld?

Try to find an original used one...although that is a little tougher as they all seem prone to rust. I have heard people had good luck on the metal ones from LRS, but I have never personally used one.

I agree with finding original parts. Much easier than hassling with poor fitting aftermarket parts. Or try to find NOS panels.

Looking at the prices of new fenders, I see that with LRS, shipping is free with the purchase of the $200 fender. But with Fox Mustang Restoration, shipping is $140! On top of the $75 fender price. I bet NPD is somewhere in the same ballpark. I did not check on shipping with them as they are just down the road from me.

MOstang 05-24-2012 08:02 PM

Toshi - I'd say check out NPD. If like what you find get it there since we live near them it's just so simple being able to deal with them in person.

NPD fenders!

NPD has free shipping ( in the US ) on $300.00 purchase. Fenders ship via truck freight, so better to check with them.

I see what you did there Andy...I just saw it... :)
