SSP???????????
so the car had 2 wrecks and does not have the 1 key entry and was never in arizona so maybe I will pass on it?? :No no:
|
It's within a batch of 10 consecutive (220242 through 220251) so it could be an SSP. But if so, where?
Is the VIN and DSO all you have or does the seller also have the complete data from the buck tags, or even better, pictures of the buck tags and door tag? Even if you're not going to buy it, those items would be good to have for the VIN Research project. |
A long time between initial recording
and first registration........... it's covert life? New Mexico is close to AZ:yes: so where is crash now:confused: |
SSP??????
I let it go,,,,, someone had picked it up for 800 without a motor ,,oh well,,I asked him to send me the pic of the door tag among other things but,,he did not

Mack,
Welcome to the forum! I love it when a new member includes pictures in his first post, but I'm a sucker for SSP-related pictures. I'm not sure on the specifics of a New Mexico SSP, but hopefully somebody else here can be of assistance to you. One thing's for sure - we don't see many SSP's from New Mexico. |

sorry ive been out of town. I got a picture of my door tag. The car is white with a blue pinstripe on the side simillar to az cars i have found on this site. The left front fender has been replaced and the right rear lower quarter panel under the fuel door is damaged and it is a easy repair. I think those are the damages that are on the carfax report. The car is in great shape other than needing to be restored.Attachment 3802

Sorry the alternator. also does your car have a recovery hook like this one?
this is my 88 az car. |
88 ssp??
The alternator doesnt have any numbers on it. The trunk lid has a hole on the left by the hinge that was filled that i just found. I will inspect the bumper tomorrow for the hole , it may have been filled also. Could i get some pictures of your car? Thanks
|
Your car is one month newer than mine is 3/88
|
Looks like a good project to save, does it have interior? If not I've got some nice seats (non SSP), nice non-console carpet, OE package tray, manual armrests and rear 1/4 plastics for it and I'm about 60 miles south of you. If interested shoot me a PM with your e-mail and I can get some pics to you and make a package deal for it all. Picked this stuff up for a 85 OSP but car is long gone and tired of moving it around shop. Congats on purchase
|
I bought this car complete minus a motor last month. I had some moisture in the interior from the window being slightly down and i decided to remove it and also try to find the build sheet with no luck. I do need a rear package tray as mine was missing and i also need the rear side panels as mine are bad from being in the heat. The car still had the black 10 hole for the spare and i found some 10 holes on craigslist that i need to have painted. i also found a low mileage motor and almost all the parts that where needed. The prior owner did a bunch of suspension modifications and bolt ons that i have removed and replaced with the correct parts. I bought this car originally to part out, but after i found the buck tags i did some research and decided to keep it and restore it. I still would like to find out where the car was from originally and try to put it back in the inservice condition.
|
AZ has no info on these cars anymore. I have tried for 2 years with no luck. I had made contact with a older trooper in AZ and he had no luck finding anything.
|
could this be a arizona car, even if it has a new mexico buck tag?
|
It could be. All the AZ cars I have seen have the front push bar. Does yours have one? or the holes were it would have been.
|
AZ ordered 30 cars in 88.

I just went out and looked at my bumpers. There are no holes in my bumpers and they are the originals with the vin tags still attached. There are holes in my rear package tray area with some wiring still there and the dash has a few smaller holes and 1 large hole possible for the wiring and there is also a mount that looks like another rear mirror bracket about 10 inches from my rearview mirror (possibly for a front mount radar?)Attachment 3811

This one says "NEW MEXICO POLICE UNIT" and is within a batch of 10 VINs.
I don't know of any AZ DPS VINs. There is one batch of exactly 30 in 1988... 248135 through 248164 so the AZ DPS could be those 30, or they could be part of a larger batch. |
I thinking it's not an AZ car.
|
I just ordered a new door tag and a marti report for my car. I hope it can tell me some info about the original dealer and the options that my car was delivered with. Any one else ever deal with a marti report?
|
Yes, I have generally great information. I had already spent time researching and finding things on my own but the Marti report confirmed what I was looking for.

http://www.specialservicemustang.net...ead.php?t=3690 We learned a lot from that. The Standard Marti Report may still be available, which is cheaper but doesn't contain as much information. |

I just received my marti report. I emailed the police chief in albuquerque and he said to check for a engraving some where near the fuel area and i found a number 3265 and i emailed it to him. I hope maybe he can tell me where the car was used. I am posting my marti report and the picture of the fuel door.Attachment 3847

The marti report also says i have vinyl seats, but i have cloth seats. also the report says my dso is 75, but my buck tags say 76. You can see my marti report above

You original door tag and buck tag have CB interior trim code (vinyl seating w/ low-back buckets, Regatta Blue interior), which matches the Marti report. Wonder why your car has cloth seats in it now. Perhaps they're not original to the car?
|
The seats could have been replaced as the seats are in pretty nice shape for the mileage. I could see the fronts being replaced, but the rears are also cloth. Does any one have any pictures of the vinyl seating? The police chief gave me a contact at the police museum for some info on my car and possible some pictures, but the museum is only open on monday and wednesdays. I guess i will have to wait to see if they have anything on it possible on monday. The police chief said they had 4 mustangs at that time. I hope they have some info, as that would be awesome.
|
Good info.
