Can you post the VIN, door tag, buck tag, build sheet, owner card, and axle tag (if not the door tag) from the donor car, if any of those items are still available, and a list of options and mileage that it has? I would like to enter it in the database as parted. Thanks.

So have a few questions maybe somebody can help with or just get us all thinking lol.. so a pict on here of a 83 Idaho car all black with white roof but if you lool at buck tags posted it said came from ford with white doors. Maybe the reason nobody knew of the 85 ISP's is because atleast mine came with those same 14" steel wheels with caps because it was ordered automatic and from what i read the 85 auto ssp's came with 14" steel and my marti report confirmed for my car. So other than the mouldings and double exhaust you wouldnt really notice the difference unless you look at interior of the 85? Mine was also ordered with a center console. If the batch of 5 mine falls in were the only 85 ISP'S maybe they just went unnoticed. Maybe some of you have pictures that were thought to be 83's but are posssibly the mysterious 85's? Hope this to be the case to help with my cars resto.

Here is the enlarged version of that photo:

As you said, the side moldings and exhaust say its an 83, but other pics may surface.

Here are some photos of two cars thought to be an 86 based upon the hub caps:

The '83s had black interior, which wasn't offered in '85. Also, the '86s in the pic had CHMSLs, which was the first year for those.

Your '85 should be easy to spot with the 14 inch wheels and full size wheel covers.

Not sure it would be full size covers?

Possibly!! No haven't had time to touch donor car and ssp still up on stands have some old Eagle's a friend gave me i need to get mounted on the 15" steelies sorry but can't do the 14" hubcap route. its going to be a struggle for me to keep it auto. My guess is when 86's came to Idaho the 83's that weren't wrecked didn't stay in service much longer so i would bet they swapped the 85 to the 15" so they didn't have to keep 14" wheels and tires in stock..Mine looks to have been in service until 89.

The two bottom photos are confirmed 86's. A friend of mine from California actually took the middle photo in Idaho for reference and the other was confirmed by Idaho SP fleet. The Idaho SP fleet also confirmed the use of the 86's but I have not gotten feedback on 85's since I was told by them that they purchased in '83, '86, and '89 only and typically were kept in service for about 70,000+ miles then replaced. I have made contact with a road sergeant there in Idaho that used to drive the 86's maybe he can shed some light on the 85's.

The '85s I have seen in-service pics of, that were CFI cars, all had full-size wheel covers. I'm sure exceptions exist, and departments/and/or officers might have switched things around, but an Eminger Invoice would show you what covers came on your car. Have you asked for one of those yet?

No prob. They may or may not have yours....luck of the draw.

If you aren't going with the full size covers anyway, it probably doesn't matter as much.

Thanks for the email. I love that Marti sends their reports as PDF files, because the quality is much better than scanning/photographing a printed copy. I updated your car's page -

It was built so far behind schedule it must have been on lot with some 86's since those would have been on lots in september o believe.

FoxChassis 09-02-2014 01:58 PM

Console was an extra cost option in LX coupes, and yes, it is quite uncommon to see an SSP ordered with one.

FoxChassis 09-02-2014 02:47 PM

Out of 60 four-eyed SSP reports that I have seen, only six so far have a console listed as equipped:

DF175204
EF181823 (console not shown on build sheet)
EF184605
EF184704
FF213220 (your car)
GF221247

Looking around in ISP yesterday found a White Castle stock fund receipt under drivers seat for a Scott. The name on fan shroud is Scott on my carfax car was in Indiana since 2005 so looked up on google white castles then the persons name. Found white castle and his address in Indianapolis and his wifes name Samantha which is also on fan shroud. On carfax color noted as red for 1st time in 2007 so my hope is they have pictures from before it was redor any additional information on history or past owners.. it was also titled in Washington and Illinois. Of course in Idaho. Fingers crossed
