Can anyone identify what is mounted inside this TX DPS unit?

Ok, I’ve been struggling to identify the piece of equipment that is clearly mounted inside this DPS unit. I’ve googled until there isn’t any more to google. That equipment is definitely on the inside of the car and is not part of the background seen past the windshield/passenger side window.

To me, it looks like a vintage in-car camera system which back then would not be small based on the available technology.

Does anyone have any other period photos of the interiors of TX DPS Mustangs where that system might be more visible?

The original photo is from this site. I have taken the original modified it by making it larger, lightening it up to see the item in question and put red circle around item. What camera system is that?

I went on eBay and searched 'Vintage Police Camera' and 'Vintage Video Camera'...lots of stuff for sale. Perhaps it was just a 'civilian' camera rigged up for DPS use. Anyway hope this helps your search.
