Talking GPD going to the Chargers.

Well, apparently Gainesville PD will be going over to the Dodge camp for our patrol cars from now on. Word is our 25 new cars in the spring will be Chargers. Sort of neat, probably will be nice change of pace. They have already put out a training video prior to the arrival of the new cars. A portion is listed below...

Looks that way for us at BSO. Fleet has 75 new ones on the way and we already have 25 on the road. We'll see what happens to the CV after so many PDs are leaving Ford.

Talking

The CHP is going to Chargers for our EVOC cars while the rest of us still get to cruise the good old CV.

All 88 Chargers bought by the CHP are equipped with the six, no HEMIs. Nine are being outfitted (pimped out is more like it) to replace the black & white versions of the 2002 Camaros that were assigned to the public affairs officers. Here's the first one done as it was displayed at Cal Expo in Sacto and photographed by a CCdC board member last week:

Chromed 22's? Very hideous if you ask me! Word is the balance of the Chargers are unmarked and are being assigned to commanders and for other admin uses but no mention of any going to the EVOC track that I've heard of. More info out there?

The unmarked cars are just too stealthy!!! I've seen a couple here in GA (one black and one silver). They blend in with traffic like they are invisable but when the strobes come on it's like the 4th of July! (at night it's awesome). Speeders beware.

Did Dodge ever clear up the 99mph speed limiter in the Chargers? The traffic sgt at my previous PD stated he returned the two Chargers they had because they were limited to 99mph similar to the Tahoes they got for the K-9 units which were also limited to 99mph.

Were they V6 cars? The PD here has V8s and there are no limiters. These are the civilian cars, but are marked FLEET on the window stickers.

I dunno. They were V8 cars as far as I know. They must have somehow gotten ahold of stock non-police models.
