Charlie,

I think you could do the same with any low-mileage coupe. As an example, I bought an '85 GT w/47k original miles on it last month. I drove the car for 550+ miles without any issues, other than the A/C needing repaired. Any 20 year old car, no matter the mileage, is going to have some issues.

I felt the same way about the AOD before I got my MSP SSP. But after driving my 86 GT convertible (w/5speed) for 25 years, I kind of like not having to shift when driving the SSP to and from car shows. The performance does suffer though. The first owner of my SSP after auction swapped out the 2:73 gear set for 3:55s and that change helps a lot in the performance department. He also replaced the stock mufflers that were worn out (kept the 4 cats) with some stainless cherry bomb type mufflers (even hooked the ground straps to them) that may flow better than stock too. I was surprised to get 28 mpg going to and from car shows in WI last weekend. I usually get an average of 20 mpg around town here.

I'm with you on this one.

Charlie, if I were in the market for a daily driver Mustang I we be all over this car. For less than the price of a 2012 Mustang V6 you could have an instant collector car that will depreciate at a far lesser rate (probably appreciate over the next 20 years) than any 2012 Mustang, no matter how many miles you put on it per year.

Quite true: I have my "sniper rifle" ready for a last minute shot!

I see someone has already "accidently" bid 150,000.00 to find out the reserve........

anyway......

to me this is not a car to daily drive. this is garage art that 20 years from now you take to Barrett Jackson and sell for 60k. I look at this car more as an investment. If I want to daily drive one I would buy a standard, non SSP equipped car, but that is just me.

low mile one owner fox mustangs are not hard to find.

super low mile, (1489) never in service SSP cars are very very hard to find.

just my .02

Just talked to my Ford service. Manual conversion possible but too expensive really. I can wait for something else. If I could live with the AOD I would though.
