Default 22k miles in 44 years

My non-SSP toy is this 1967 M715 (looks like a big Tonka truck to to me, hence the door decals with the name of my cabin) that I have had for 2 years now and I have put 1k miles on. The paint is from 1985 and I'm contemplating repainting it. There is zero rust, put a couple of dings and chalky paint. Should I leave it as is (I kind of like the patina) or paint it? And if I do repaint it, should I go back to its factory issued olive drab (served from 1967-85) hue or the fire department red and white paint scheme (served from 1985-05) that is on it now?

I would go with the red and white if it were mine.

Red and white is great looking, unless your 20 miles in the woods, If you decide to sell I would be interested. Charlie

I wouldn't change a thing. Patina is a badge of honor IMO, and that truck is dripping with character and charm.

I'll add one more vote for the above.

I too like the Red & White. Lots of character in that truck.

I'm also in line for the white over red and leaving up the Tonka truck reference too! I remember having a Tonka in that same color too when I was a kid.

Thanks for all of your input. My wife and Daughter like it the way it is too. After looking over the photos again I think you are all right and "patina" wins! I especially like the factory M16 mount behind the driver's seat (thats an airsoft M16 in there, as leaving a real one in there would be beyond irresponsible). So it's going stay the way it is for the next 44 years (it would be nice to be around to see it turn 88, but I'd be 99).
