Exclamation 1986 Oregon State Police SSP

Found on eBay:

1986 Oregon SSP
VIN: 1FABP26M2GF208307
Mileage: 67,000

I had made the listing into a PDF for future reference, but it’s 1.4MB and when I tried to upload it here, message said I can’t because if file size (I have no way of making it smaller).

Here’s the eBay link if someone else wants to condense it:

Thanks for posting this up and including the VIN. That may be of help to someone down the line. Attached is a pic of the car. I am quoting the ebay ad here -

Quote:
Barn find 1986 SSP Mustang.
I will try to describe this as detailed as possible.

This is an original surviving 1986 5.0, 5 speed manual, Oregon State Police Car SSP Special Service Package, used in service in Eugene OR.
The car is very original and unmodified, the only exceptions being the mufflers and tailpipes are stock replacements, and it has a k&n filter replacement.

The car has sat for quite a few years but it really didn’t need much to get it back into good running condition.
The car runs great, and doesn't smoke or use oil. The bottom of the engine around the pan is wet, but doesn't leave anything on the ground.
The previous owner kept renewing the tags thinking he’d drive it someday but never did.
All Exterior lights and signals work.
Gauges and lights, dome light, trunk light, AM radio, rear defrost, cig lighter, heater motor all work.
Wipers and windshield squirter also.
Heater Hot/cold cable is frozen, and the snake/map light doesn’t work, but they rarely do.
A/C pump is free and would probably work if it was charged.
The car has minimal surface rust on the underside, and a little bubbling on bottom side of trunk lid (See pics below)
I’ve found no actual rust damage anywhere.
The car is drivable as is, but could use a few things to be better.
The brakes work pretty good, but I feel like they could work better. I think a brake master cylinder replacement would cure it.
The Clutch grabs low to the floor, I’m uncertain if it just needs adjusted or replaced, or possibly just an adjustable cable.

OUTSIDE
The rear bumper is cracked on both rear corners. (See pics below)
The paint is old, and chipping (see pics below)
The body is pretty straight with the most major things being the previously mentioned rear bumper, the drivers front fender has a dent in front of the tire that should pop out easily, a dent on the passenger rear wheel arch, and also where the rear bumper meets the passenger 1/4 panel. (See pics below)
The bottom of the core support is bent (see pics below), looks like maybe from a tow truck hook.
The spotlight hole was also filled back in at some point, They did a nice job.
The hood, doors and trunk all shut nicely.

RECENT work I’ve done.
New fuel pump
Fuel system flushed
Brakes flushed
New rear wheel cylinders
Complete interior cleaning
As mentioned, it runs and shifts great but a tuneup probably wouldn’t hurt on this original 5.0 motor.

INTERIOR
It has the 140 MPH Speedometer
It has a few small holes in the dash and shifter bezel where various police equipment was placed.
The dash is cracked (see pics below)
The interior is in decent shape, the seats and door panels are not worn much from use which makes me believe the cars mileage might be actual, it is a bit worn just from age though, the dash pad taking the worst of the sun rays. (See pics below)
Back seat is also nice. I couldn't get the lighting right so the back seat looks faded to almost white, but it is not, it is only mildly faded

Idles good at 550 RPM
Has the original Factory Headers that sound great.
Has the original Mustang Cop car steel wheels
Tilt steering Wheel
The original Buck Tags are still on the core support. (See pics below)
The car runs great and fires up every time.
The car is a little rough looking around the edges but overall a very solid and great survivor car with lots of potential, that could be driven as is with a couple fixes or would also be a great candidate for a partial or full restoration.
The battery that’s in it, is physically to small so there is a block in there so it won’t slide around.
SSP Mustangs are very hard to find, harder in decent condition, and extremely hard to find untouched/unmodified like this one, especially being a 1986 SSP coupe.

I've had this car for over 2 years and after doing the maintenance I haven't touched it much since.
Selling due to an additional Project that I am sinking money into.
Please message, call or text, for additional info, questions etc.

Oops - didn't realize it's the same SSP I had initially posted here back in March:
http://www.specialservicemustang.net...ead.php?t=7007

Can mods merge the threads?
