Default CHP push bumper Crown Vic

Hello everyone how's it going?

Yes this is a SSP dominated forum but thought I'd ask.

I'm looking for the push bumper that the CHP used on their Crown Vic's. From what I've gathered they were made in house and are extremely hard to find.

I was wondering if anyone knows where I can get my hands on one or some. Does anyone have connections at the CHP garage? I'm looking for the one that was used on the later models (2005-2011 ish) years. They've kinda changed design/mounting to fit the different years of the cars.

If anyone can help me out I would highly/extremely appreciate it!!

You can contact me by email, call/text or on here as well.

Thank you in advance!

The Ripon Show was this past weekend. Too bad cuz I'm sure there were folks there who would have been able to help you out on a CHP pushbar for a Vic. I no longer have the number for the guy I used to contact about CHP stuff.

When CHP removes a vehicle from service, it gets stripped.
All of those parts go into bins for recycling.
Those bins go to recyclers in the Sacramento area.

You have to go to those recyclers, find the part you want and pay by the pound.
That is how I understand it works.

Unless you can find someone that has been there and has purchased those parts to resell to collectors or people restoring these cars.

CHP will not sell parts to civilians that they have removed from patrol vehicles.
Good luck on finding your item. They have a lot of crown vics right now they are removing from service, that at least, is in your favor.
Hope that helps some.

Yes sir that does help.

I finally spoke with someone else who also said that they take the bumpers to the scrap recycling yards.

Do you have any idea which scrap metal places it is they take those to? The other gentleman I spoke to said it's somewhere in Rancho Cordova. Not sure how accurate that information is. He does work in the EVOC garage.

I bought a number of shotgun racks from this recycler back in 2004 and at the time they has a literal mountain of push bars there:

Sunshine Steel Enterprises
8265 Belvedere Avenue
Sacramento, CA 95826

(916) 455-8371

Not sure they are still being used by CHP but they are located relatively close to Rancho Cordova.

While we're on a similar topic...if anyone has a decent CHP rubber bumper pad for one of those push bars (or even a pair), I could use it. The pad I have is "ok" but has a small amount of damage at the bottom.

I was able to find one of the bumpers but is a little bent on one of the mounts and same issue with the rubber for the bars mentioned in the previous comment. Overall a very good looking push bumper in general.
