Now that you have our attention, do tell.

It's the rusted out parts car from the pair bought recently by Bullitt1609...
Will be a major undertaking to build one from this :-) maybe when I'm done with all my current projects and my collection is complete I'll get bored and piece this thing back into a car again:-) one thing for sure if it can be saved it will be. Just rest assured knowing she's not off the radar...

Glad to read you're going to be taking one like that on as a project.

Nice one Bobby on the NYSP!

Forum activity ebbs and flows; not just here. For example, I am a member on a S197 Mustang forum that started in 2006 as a haven for V6 owners. The site changed their name to include all Mustangs, and it really is a well-run forum that feels like an online car club, and has good tech information. But its activity level has dropped off and lately their annual get-togethers have had trouble getting the attendance numbers they need to make an event happen. It is a great site, but other factors are affecting forum activity and participation.

Members (and forum staffers!) get burnt out and turned off to the online experience over time. It's human nature, and sometimes we all need to step away from the computer. But I think most of us recognize that forum participation is just a smaller part of our hobby. Don't get me wrong - our forum continues to be a great resource tool for SSP information. It also serves as a catalyst for occasional member meet-ups, like attending car shows and even organizing a SSP weekend work party (we need to do that again boys!). But ultimately, our personal time spent with the cars (sourcing parts, restoring, driving, showing, general wrenching) is why we are in the hobby. Conversing online with the rest of you like-minded gearheads is just an added bonus!

I agree with you Bill. The forum is great but there's no replacement for turning the wrenches on your ride. Nonetheless, keep up the great work on the site.

Congrats on the NYSP SSP, Bobby. You now have 2 of the 4 SSP's I've drooled over for years! BTW, the new owner of the ebay NYSP car turned up on .org. He says the owner told him it is nearly rust free less a floor pan. I do hope it is for his sake and gets put back on the road.

Thanks,
Maybe you can be its new caretaker once I piece her back together... :-) I just wanna get it into buildable project that someone with the interest in the NYSP cars could finish it up.

I'd gladly take care of that one! We may have to talk paint on a certain '82 prior to that though.

I told someone the other day that I was "into" these cars, buying and driving them, before there were ANY websites relating to SSP cars. I will be "into" them when all the original members of the SSP websites have moved on. We have already seen many of the core contributing members get tired of the IBS and move on to something more enjoyable. (to them)

The evolution of the internet with it's positives and negatives have created a world where for some members, the social networking aspect is of most importance to them. If they didn't have their SSP relationships, they probably wouldn't own one of these cars. Then there are the members that are in it for the money. Flipping cars is where they get their enjoyment, chasing the next "big lick" from selling a car for twice what they paid for it two months ago. Some people drove them in service, some wanted to. Some just like spending time with the cars and could be just as happy with these cars and this hobby without ever logging onto the internet at all.

I personally don't care if the prices go up or down. I also don't care if every web site shuts the door and turns the lights off. I am perfectly able to entertain my self in my mid-west barn. I was doing it before the IBS and will be doing it after the IBS.
