Speedometer Mileage Rollback Question

I just bought a new speedometer for my '92 and I want to set it to the original mileage. I have the "roller" with the numbers on it out of the speedometer however aside from manually advancing it by the gear on the one side, I cannot figure out how to advance the mileage quicker. Anyone have any experience with this?

I've never messed with it either. I'd take it to a speedo shop (there's one in Roswell, GA that could probably help you).

I was able to turn the tumbler by hand at about 1 mile per second. Figuring this would take me about 12 years to get to 152,000 miles I rigged up a cordless drill with a modified bit to turn the gear of the tumbler which is being held in place by a modified box of Frosted Mini Wheats. Turning 100 miles every ten seconds should get me to 152,000 miles in approx. 4 1/2 hours. This may sound rough on the tumbler however it is actually a fairly slow speed on the drill. I now know what going 600mph would look like on the odometer!

Advancing the mileage on the new speedometer was successful. My car now reads 152,000 instead of 52,000. Suprisingly, the old 140mph cluster is a different set up than the "million mile" odometer and looks like a bear to change the mileage or even get the tumbler out for that matter.

If you gently press the pin that holds the wheels out you can remove each wheel and then put them back in to read whatever you want, then just press the pin back into place. I usually reset all of my complete restorations to 0 as part of the deal but wont be with my SSP.
