Default Radio Antenna Delete Plate

OK, so I ordered the delete plate from Fox Resto a while back. When I removed the radio antenna, I found that my friend did not do that when he painted, so I'll need to touch up that area as best I can to get rid of the yellow paint now exposed.

The real problem is that my delete plate doesn't fit. Rather, it's too loose and won't stay in. I've looked and looked at pics from the net and I cannot find a close up. Does the gasket/spacer from the radio antenna still go between the delete plate and the fender? It looks too thin with just the delete plate.

Can someone post some close up photos of theirs, please? And where does the double-sided tape go?

Thanks in advance.

Greg

the delete plate is smaller than the antenna base. You are going to have to repaint that area.

The arrows point to your old gasket/double sided tape. You can get some from a supply house and make your own. I would repaint the whole fender.

So the tape is all that holds this on? It just looks too flat compared to the photos I've seen online. That's why I asked if there was a gasket used between this and the fender. And I sure don't want white double-faced tape showing (that's what came with this plate).

The whole car needs to be stripped or sanded and repainted. I just don't have that kind of financing right now. I want it done right. The Bullitt is about to be paid off, so that car payment will become a restoration savings account.

If someone could post up a photo of theirs with this plate installed, it would be much appreciated.

Are you planning on having the car stripped down to the metal when it is painted? If the last guy didn't sand off all the yellow that could spell some paint trouble in the future. I'm sure you will have the car done right though

I can go and take some pictures of the delete plate on my dads "original" 92 CHP. I'm sure Ford didn't change anything lol

I used a double stick foam type tape piurchased from auto parts store, same kind used to attach emblems on a car etc.
Attached pieces to the delete plate ( trim it before attaching to fender )
Then just press it on over the antenna hole.

It's applied same as an emblem ( example the 5.0 emblem ) double stick tape is all.
You can see a layer of the tape between the fender and plate.
Make sure you get the dark gray or black double stick tape of course.

Please do. Yes, I want the car sanded to bare metal or media blasted. Same as some other restos we've seen here. She'll need some body work along the way, too.
