Default Noisy Speedo

I have been trying to research on message boards...but have only found speedo and tach replacement info/articles. The speedo on my 93 SSP makes noise above 40 and gets a louder as the mph goes up. It sounds like the gears inside the speedo are rubbing on something as its spinning. I had a 89 non-ssp that did the same thing. Do I need to replace the Vascar? or can I take it apart and 'lube' it up somehow or another? The functionality is fine, its just noisy. Any help would be appreciated - I was planning on just taking apart the dash and cracking it open to try and get some intel as to what is rubbing.

My 85 did that and had a bounce....... I think above 40mph
in my situation it was the cable needing grease. try soaking it
with penetrating oil first but you may have to pull the cable (center)
out as far as you can to work in the oil.
good luck.

Not that this is any help but my '93 does the same thing. I just turn the radio up.
