What was your first car?
Mine was a 1965 Mustang C code 289
three speed on the floor. Paid three hundred dollars for it. It had a rally pac and i think today the Rally pac alone would be worth 300! I had rented a garage to store it in but that only lasted a few days because it scared the home owner because it was loud! They thought i was going to drive through the garage. This car My FIRST CAR started my interest in Ford and ford powered cars. So what was your first car?

Nice car, Andy! Good thread too.
I still have the 1966 Mustang that my dad bought new. I drove this through HS and have kept it for our son, who drives it often. We will be re-restoring it soon as a father-son project.

1973 Opel Manta Rallye. Bought it brand new when I was 17. Was a tough compromise, had my mind set on a '73 Camaro Z/28 but insurance was impossible to afford amid the ongoing muscle car crackdown. This was actually a fun car, esp. after upgrading the wheels, tires and suspension, despite it having only 75 net HP!

My first car when I was 16 was a 1966 red w/black vinyl top Mustang auto with a 289 V8. My daily driver through high school and away at college. It was a natural affinity to be driving a Mustang and to see the Missouri State Highway Patrol SSP Mustang's prowling the roads . Even drove it daily to my first job for a few months, until I purchased my first new car...a 1996 laser red Mustang auto with a V6.
Sold the 1966 one after about 14 years of ownership (and after buying a 1969 Champagne Gold Mach I) and later traded the 1996 in for an Explorer.

First Car
I can't be that much older than all of you, but my first car in December of 1964 was a 1953 Ford Mainline two-door Sedan, solid black, flathead V-8, 3-speed, no accessories, not even a radio! It was a great car. Before I'd had it a month I had it over 100 mph (by the speedo). I'd love to have another one.

You guys had better first cars than I did. But I'll tell the story anyway. It was 1972, I was in high school, just got my Driver's License. My family had a 1963 Chevy Bel Air, 4 door, with the 230 ci straight six and a PowerGlide auto trans that my Mom had purchased new. The veh was passed around among my older brothers until the transmission died. I was told "If you fix it, you can have it." A friend and I crawled under that car and spent a weekend removing the PG and replacing it with one from a junk yard. Did we really know what we were doing? No, but it worked and the rest is history. Also launched my interest in wrenching on cars.
As you can imagine, I didn't get many girlfriends with those wheels. That all changed in 1977 when I bought a 1969 Corvette with a 427/4 speed. Ice-Blue metallic T-top. Had a lot of fun with that car and dated the Head Cheerleader from a local high school...yes she was younger than me but it's ok because I married her and 2 kids and 36 years later she's still my girl...
