Question Looking for Unit #

This afternoon I went looking for my cars (CHP?) unit number. I sanded away paint above and below my cars data tag on the drivers door. As you can see in the pictures, the cat is on its third color, green. Below that is gray. And below that is white. I did not find any number painted there.

What is the bar code sticker with numbers (80003006) in my pictures?

I was also told to look on the drivers side window, wasn't sure if it was the door window or quarter window. I looked on the door window by taking off the door panel. Nothing there but a couple of business cards from Las Vegas, one from a gentleman's club and another from an attorney's office.

On a different subject, I also wanted to see if a spot light was ever mounted on the A-pillar, so pulled off the unmolested A-pillar trim. The A-pillar is as clean as can be.

Took a magnet to the roof as well, looking for the roof antenna hole. Nothing. Looked in the trunk for holes on the drivers side quarter panel. Nothing. Don't have the metal plate covering the fuel pump wiring either.

Look on the front license plate bracket and on the back sides of the rear seat cushions also.

Lift the rear bottom cushion from the back, not the front. [/voice of experience]

Your car gets more and more interesting.

Check out the SMPVs in this pic. The top one, which is blue, has the lower half painted gray (hard to see in the scan, but I have the magazine and you can definitely see the color). Only antenna I can see in the pic is one on the roof.

From my experience you push the front of the cushion rearward then lift. I tried your way first just because. Could not release the cushion. Then I did it my way with no problem.

Hmmm...I would like to believe that my car was one of those. But the thing that says No is that the door has all three colors, being white first, gray, then the green. If the gray was not between I could see that it could have been an SMPV. But that is not the case. Weird huh?

Toshi....here is where the unit number on 8397 was found
this is consistent with other CHP Mustangs.
The prep work was not that good in that they
never sanded off the unit numbers that were applied
with a small paint brush ...kinda like the touch up paint
you buy in the auto part's store.
they just painted over them......(this is a good thing)

Default Unit #

I wet sanded in that spot and came up with nothing. I did above the data sticker too and no luck. I'm thinking that this car never served with the CHP, even though it may have been ordered for them.

From my first post in this thread, does anyone know what the little sticker with the bar codes and the numbers mean? There was just green paint on top of it. No gray.

Default DMV Vehicle Registration Information

Today I finally received the history domument I've been waiting for from California DMV. I sent the request in on December 4th! It is now January 24th.

To my disappointment it only gave me the car's history back to June of 2000. The owner at that time, a Dennis Wayne Wilkinson. Comparing it to my CARFAX, this gentleman lived in Stockton, CA. Does anyone have access or can point me to a good people search website?

Still missing is the history of the car's first 8 years. The DMV did not have that info. What other way can I maybe find this information? December 7, 1992 is when the car's first title was issued. D. Wilkinson was the second.
