Russ,

You will need an A/B/C 7 style head. Here is a close-up pic from the Batlabs website. Although not the correct configuration (notice the buttons above the display), they can be switched out once you find one. I'll add this info to the resto doc as well.

Here is a link to their website, also. Tons of good Motorola radio info there.

Russ,

I've seen many different styles of the 800 Mhz ones (some could be dual band UHF/VHF also and not 800). There's a few in the in-service gallery here, and I think a couple in the FHP resto doc also.

Have pics of either of yours for comparison?

the one i just purchased looks exactly the same except it is 3 inches in height instead of 5 like what is on the trunk.

Ok...they make a quarter wave style that looks like that, but I'd go with an NMO mount that looks like one of these (some pictured below come with magnet mounts):

http://www.tessco.com/products/displ...&subgroupId=34

This same website has the quarter-waves listed (3 inchers):

http://www.tessco.com/products/displ...&subgroupId=33

In most of the pics I've seen (and cars in person), they used the first style above. I have no idea why, and I only know enough about the radio stuff to get me into trouble. I'm sure it's some kind of gain v/s quarter wave mumbo jumbo.
