Jim, that's a nice website you've put together.

The camaro leading the pack was driven by a gal!!!!!!!! at least when I was there watching the show!
Was a blast watching the driver with the camera in the seat of SSP. At the end, he had that little Evil smile on his face. Seemed to be saying !I love it!
He was the instructor at that time and later drove for GOV terminator (can't begin to spell his last name!
Info provided to me by a CHP trooper, about the instructor!!!!!

The camaro that was driven by the female EVOC instructor is now up on EBay from what I know of it's history.

Sure do love those EVOC videos.

The one I saw and in the video, leading the mustangs, was a 1991 or 1992
B4C (3rd generation Camaro)
The one on e bay is a 4th generation Camaro and is one of the 4-5 in the other video.

Interesting site...

http://sspcentral.com/library/idaho-sp.htm

For reference, GE radios not Motorola until well after the 90's... that interior has an incorrect radio. GE has been the supplier of PS radio systems since the 1950's according to the radio techs at ISP.

GE Phoenix radios are correct for the Mustangs up until 1989 and then they went to the GE Mastr II with the S820 series head. They still have an S820 setup in their

Oops ran out of time for the edit.

they used the S820 series head in their B4C Camaros too. The Gran Fury interior that you have the photo of the Motorola Micor is absolutely incorrect (verified with ISP). The Unitrol 800 series was used in the patrol cars and the 480KR's were used in the Mustangs.

They also have used UHF frequencies since the early 80's.

The Whelen Responder with a mirrored reflector on it (blacked out to avoid flash back) was also used and did not have any lightbars at all on the SSP's.

The rear deck lights were actually chromed amber colored fog lamps with alternating relay circuits installed to create a wig-wag effect for those lamps.

I'll be posting more on this as there has been a lot of historical information transmitted to me over the last two weeks from ISP.

Ooops...in that case - that particular B4C is now owned by Aaron in Arizona and I believe is getting overhauled.

I've got a tape, yeah, VHS, that I made of a bunch of SSP chases from Real Stories of the Highway Patrol. Back then, I was taping all the shows and compiled the SSP chases on one tape. It is MIA at present. When I find it, I'll get my friend to use his video editing equipment to digitize the individual segments.

Our last power outage took out my Sony VHS->DVD recorder.

My favorite was the SC to NC and back to SC chase of the white BMW? or was it a Mercedes?

Nice video compilation on this site! Thanks!!
