Default 84 SSP

Does anyone know how rare a 84 SSP L model is? Also it has power windows and locks. Any info would be appreciated.

I owned an '84 L based SSP with PW and PL once and it's still out there somewhere. Ex-Milpitas, CA PD traffic unit, had a five-speed too!

In restored condition:

Last I heard it was with a flipper dealer in GA but it's been a while.

Unrestored interior:

Those chairs are out of a Mercury Merkur...yeeech!

I don't know how rare, but top picture of FHP SSP in the link below is of one.

Pretty good picture of the emblem on trunk lid.

I bought the '84 while my '88 was in for paint and started doing a very small part of the work on it. Got a bit discouraged with the way the car had to be set up in order to pass CA smog and decided that I ultimately wouldn't be happy the performance so I passed the car on to Kevin M. at In-Pursuit and they put it into the beautiful shape as it appears in the first photo. In retrospect, I think I gave up too easily on that car. There just aren't that many nice early SSPs left and IMO they will indeed become some of the most desirable examples to collect in the long run.

I believe the four eyed cars are the ones that will eventually bring the big dollars.

far fewer survivors.
