Thanks for the update, Ken. It's great that your SMPV is coming together. I cannot wait to see the pictures!

Just going back and bringing everything up to date. Unit #5300 went into service on 8-7-90 to 8-4-94 and was stationed at Central Division (401) Fresno, Ca. #5300 came equipped with the GE Rangr and lay down shotgun mount. A magnet mount spotlight was used in place of the two pillar mounted lights. Later, at some point a spotlight was installed on the driver’s pillar. The standard round B&W deck lights were replaced with a lower profile type rectangle lights. 5300 was never quipped with a low band antenna on the rear quarter panel but used the Sti-Co antenna in place of the factory antenna. As most probably already know, all CHP identifying marks were removed on the SMPV’s, only leaving the white door with the star and “Highway Patrol” visible. Also, the car was repainted blue to blend in with traffic, which now I think is the 1990 mustang light crystal blue paint code (MA).
I have had the car since 2002 and it has undergone some changes and now within reason is on its way back to its in-service appearance.

There was an earlier post of this but I think this is more accurate.

I've done the dash thing several times - I feel your pain. Lots of effort expended - looking good. It will all yield a great looking car in the end.

Hey Brad will do, not sure when the next will be, possible in the spring, NASCAR at Talladega or something. But will keep in touch.

SSPCHPSTANG3101 I know what its like getting a car ready for a Car Show. Last year I spent countless hours before the Ripon Show and still working on the car until the last day before it was time to leave. I felt at times I was racing the clock. The best of luck and looking forward to seeing it at Ripon this year.
Thanks, I hope it doesn't come down to the 11th hour getting ready but you never know. I've had a few years to get R done but something always gets in the way. A friend of mine finally got time to fit in the body and paint so that's where the recent motivation came from.

The dash definitely took a while but needed to be done, lots of patience. Also it didn't help the prior owner installed an alarm and other stuff that need to be traced down and removed. It wasn't bad but I think I will wait a while to do another.

More pics coming.
