FHP owner new guy in North Carolina
Hello to all on this board, seems like a great bunch of people I have learned a ton already about my car. I had been in the market for a FHP SSP mustang for a while waiting for the right car to come along. I am a real pain in the neck when it comes to my cars and would not settle for just any SSP. I was looking for an original un-hacked, un-modified FHP SSP and I was beggining to think I would be looking until the end of time. The one day I got real lucky not only did I find exactly what I was looking for, the car was so original and untouched it seems like it was taken out of service yesterday. FHP unit 1118 still wears it's original paint, you can still read the outline from the STATE TROOPER letters on the front fenders. The underhood is all original, the interior, and even the trunk! From what I was told from the previous owner the car was purchased from auction and stored for many years. Now that I own it I am up in the air about where to go from here. I had thought of tearing it all down and doing a full resto but that would be a horrible idea. These cars are only original ONCE and the original paint is still real nice just needing a good cleaning. How many SSP's can claim to still wear their in-service paint? especially a marked unit. I think a full detail and return all the markings and jetsonic to the bar is where I am headed. can somone help me with a FHP decal source? I already purchased the correct jetsonic and the mounting brackets from federal signal. here are some pictures and let me know what you think. There is also a real cool background story on this car which happended while it was in service I will post under the 87-93 area not to make this post any longer (LOL! sorry still excited)

Welcome aboard.....nice car, and some great pics. Thanks for posting those up.
As nice as your paint looks, I think I'm in agreement with you on cleaning it up and re-marking it. I like the picture of the paint break in the trunk also...different from my '93, but you still have the tape stripes in place, too. You do not see many like that anymore.
