I have a unit number of 1543 that's was written on the driver door after the car was repainted. I'm not 100% sure that this number is correct and with out a unit card I'm having trouble varifying it's accurate unit number. I ran the vin # 1FACP40E7PF189089 through a website called Auto check and no results of an E Plate resulted. Does anyone know of what form is required to check its history through the California Department of Motor Vehicles or another avenue to take.Any help or information will be greatly appreciated.
I look forward to seeing pictures of your newly painted SSP. A unit number of 1543 is consistent with other CHPs from that batch of VINs. The plate number was most likely E881543. I did not have any luck with the California smog site for that plate number, but I have attached a screenshot of the data for your VIN.

Here is a thread where we discussed the California DMV title history -

Chris emailed me some pictures of a 1988 TxDPS Mustang that we already had in our Project using auction records. The car now resides in a pick&pull, never to see the street again, as seen in the photos that were added to the car's page -

Mick sent me the info on this 1983 SSP that popped up on FEP -

http://www.specialservicemustang.net...info172427.htm

We do not know what agency in Georgia ordered the car, or if it was used in some type of police work, but the Marti Report confirms it as a SSP.

I've been following this one...
Quote from my last post on FEP;

Mick this 83 in question was actually built (and evidently by the days behind schedule) and scheduled before the two of the 10 GSP's we have Marti reports for... this one was built on may 22 ( 23 days behind schedule) the two GSP's (that we have reports) were built on may 29 (two days behind schedule)

Concerning this last 83 SSP;

Spoke with one of my contacts, a retired Captain from GSP. He remembers the GBI having a 1983 black/black Mustang. He said in fact he rode in it a couple times. If I were a gambling man I'd put my money on this being that car. (This is not however PROOF of it being that car though)... But they could not have been many (if any more) around this area in 83...

Yep,
My contact does not know if the GBI had more than one or not just that this guy (a freind) had one. He's going to see him tomorrow hopefully and I've ask him to ask about it...
