ignition key release button

Did SSP's come with the white button under the steering column that releases the ignition key? Or was it deleted at the factory? My 1987 CHP does not have one but my 89 LX has one.

I always wondered too. My '88 and '89 LXs had them but my '88 SSP doesn't.

I never noticed that my 85 didn't have one. I thought I had broke it off. Lol

I can see it being deleted. Just imagine the hassle the officer would have had with it

my 88 FHP had the release button.

I wonder if motor transport disabled them for CHP cars?
