Default 1990 FHP purchase

I decided to buy the FHP unit that was up in Cleveland, it's my first ssp. I wasn't planning on getting something yet but it was hard to pass on it with the seller only asking 1200 obo. I wanted to get a project and was wanting either a FHP or GSP unit.

The car was in worse shape than I was expecting. I guess I didn't ask enough questions and the seller didn't mention all that was wrong. The roof has damage but it appears fixable, and the floor boards are shot on both sides, someone tried to repair the driver side but did a horrible job. It looks like the doors must have been off the car for a long time. The undercarriage is clean, I don't see any other rust on the car. The core support, inner fenders and front and rear frame look good. Even with the additional issues I still decided to get it, paid 1k for the car. The car must have been a donar car for someone else, original doors and fenders were gone along with the front and rear seats.

On the plus side the car still has the original motor, rear end and the suspension, it doesn't appear to have been someone's hotrod toy, still and the original rear control arms and quad shocks. Still has most of the ssp items, missing the instrument cluster.

The cars vin is 1FACP40E9LF161434, DSO 24-0068.

What style cloth seats came in the 1990? Was it the checkered pattern? And what cluster? 140 or 160

Mike, congrats on the purchase! Although it is a project it is nice that you were able to pick this one up. Does it still have the Buck Tags? That block of VINs contains at least 3 different DSO numbers for the FHP cars, plus the batch of Nebraska cars at the end.

Bill: Has LF161441 (DSO #24-0070) been confirmed as an FHP? If not there are only two confirmed DSOs for the FHPs in that group so far...24-0066 and 24-0068. Unless you know something I don't

Nice pick up there, Mick! Not much gets past you.

LF161441 has not been confirmed as a FHP, but as I recall, the thinking was that it had been a FHP vehicle. So the VIN Project page lists it as being unconfirmed. Perhaps another car will surface from that DSO and it will have supporting evidence to confirm this car as well.

LF161441 was a regular production color (YF Light Titanium), not FHP tu-tone, so if it was FHP it was unmarked. But it was ordered through the same dealer (Don Reid Ford - Maitland, FL) as the FHPs that year.

Here is a pic of the buck tag. Sorry if it's to large, I'm still trying to figure out how to post pictures.

I enjoy the project cars more than ones already completed. Most of the project cars in the past that I have had were always the 64 1/2 - 66 mustangs. So this really didn't seem to bad compared to some of the early model mustangs I've had.

I'll pull the bumper cover off tonight and get a better pic of the buck tag.

Anything new to report on this one, Mike?

Just a heads up. That VIN still shows a Lien on its Florida title from 1996. Hopefully your paperwork shows the Lien is satisfied.

Received the Marti Report and used the buck tag decoder. Found out this FHP had power windows, I was hoping it had manual windows but I can't complain.

Here is a copy of the Marti Report.

The lien had been satisfied, I have a copy of the Florida title that had the lien released on it. I only wish I had a copy of the title when the FHP sold it to the first buyer, it may have had the unit number on that one.
