86 WA state SSP new member
Just wanted to say hello to the forum. Funny story, I accidently bought an SSP. This guy had a garage full of 5.0 high performance parts and a '86 foxbody. He wanted it all gone parts and car. I needed the parts for my 89 resto and thought the 86 was something to just part out. No title on car for 12 years from Washington state, as I cleaned out the 86 I found a hole in the A pillar, speaker in the ceiling and a lot of wires everywhere. Did research and found my VIN on the Internet, one of 30 1986 WA state patrol cars produced. Now what, no title, rare car, verified not stolen via police officer friend of the family, pics and tech data tomorrow . Comments questions recommendations welcome via here or my email. Great forum nice to meet everyone*

Welcome!!! What part of Texas are you in? The former owner if he lost the title would have to file a lost title claim with the State of Washington. If not might have to do a mechanics lean.

Jim, welcome to the forum!
Check to see what your options are for getting a title on a car in Texas. The requirements vary by state, obviously, so you may have some options in terms of obtaining a title. When you can, please send me a picture of the VIN sticker on the door and the Buck Tags (mm750 [at] comcast [dot] net), and I will add your car to the VIN project.

28HopUp, I sent you a few pics for your records.
Thanks to everyone responding to the title issue, I am starting to look into it today. I'll move over to the 86 area forum and post some pics etc. |

Jim - welcome!
I am a fellow WSP SSP owner. The 86's are somewhat hard to find. Have seen a total of 4 over the last decade (your's being the 4th). I will look for your post over in the 83-86 section. Would love to know more about it. Basically, here in WA, if you have a car with no title, you can register it with the WSP/DOL. I believe it takes 2 years to file the claim. If no one comes FWD claiming the car, you can have a title issued. May find out more by visiting: http://dol.wa.gov

Welcome from Oregon, I have a 1986 OSP coupe. In most states, you should be able to do a mechanics lien or abandoned vehicle lien to get the title, just check with your local DMV.
