Default Storm of the Century

How are you all holding up in this BIG storm? I'm on the most northern edge. Two hours in and maybe a half inch of snow.

That stuff is blowing out there big time. Just came in from freezing my ears off with the snow blower. Figured I'd get my first lick at it before heading to bed. Seems to be about 2-5 inches if new snow so far depending upon the drifts. Just a few hours in so far...will be interesting what the rest of the evening brings. In my line of work I'm have something in common with the USPS....neither rain, nor sleet, nor snow will be able to keep me away from work.

About 8 -10 inches on the ground. 50-60 mph gusts reported.
I'm about 30 min west of Chicago in DuPage county.

Conn. has ice but not bad. Sounds much worse in the central states. We do have 3 feet of snow to go with it though

We had freezing rain overnight, which has now turned to rain. Temps will be in the upper 30's today. Our driveway was icy, the neighborhood was slushy, but the roads this morning were just wet. On the ground, we still have a good amount of snow under the ice.

I waited till late today to tackle my driveway and the school I help keep clear. Had about 8 inches in the drive. The school on the other hand was a differnt story as the wind made some deep drifts I had to cut through. The 8hp, 24" wide, self-propelled snowblower I used at the school kept wanting to climb up the snow instead of cut through. Doing the 100 yards of sidewalk was not fun. At least the sun came out for a little bit.

While clearning the snow, I thought it was a good idea to warm my gloved hands off the exhaust of the snowblower. Opps! Too close, melted my glove! :-(

No furnace! Never thought of that way down there. Probably looking at a lot of broken water pipes?

23.5" reported with 40 mph gusts. I have 4 to 6 foot driffs all over including my driveway. Some are 20 feet wide. My driveway entrance was plowed shut to 5 feet high and about 20 feet wide. Needed a front end loader to open it up. Today a high of 9 degrees. Unbelievable.
