Airbag Light
I got my Mustang out on the road today for the first drive this year. I noticed my "AIR BAG" light flashing slowly. I did not do anything electrical all winter. Only disconnected the battery. I hadn't run it since September! What could it be?

Ive been troubleshooting mine for some time now. think i know what parts need to be replaced but along my research, i came up with the following:
The number of flashes represents a code. I used this site to figure out what it was http://www.veryuseful.com/mustang/tech/airBag/ If nothing changed, i would check the mounting of the safing sensors to the vehicle ground, these can corrode. Also may help to disconnect the battery and check the connectors. Worse yet, did something chew an airbag wire? Be careful, messing with the airbag wires and sensors can be dangerous. |

Loss of power or drop in voltage below 12 volts, to air bag controll module will casue this problem. Check the fuse in the fuse box. I had to replace the module and clock spring on my 93 hatch back to stop the problem I was having. Clock spring has to be the exact same part number as the one you take out. If you need a clock spring you well need to pick one up from a parts car. As Ford no longer carries the parts and I was unable to find a after market company that makes them. A1 Cardone has remans for some air bag controll modules.
