Default Boo Boo

Modern Family Boo Boo
I had recently seen an episode of Modern Family
where Jay was teaching his Son Joe about car maintenance
so with the hood open on a 1965 Mustang
(Never seen on the show before or after this episode)
he said to Joe let's check the oil
I will show you the Dip Stick and with that Joe touches
the hood prop saying this stick?
and the hood comes down in Jay's hands and he screams.
So what is wrong with this scene?

Why isn't the 65 on the show more often?

It has never been seen before or after.
It's cars like this that I would like to know the back story?
