Good points all. Maybe putting a retired Expedition together with a restored Mustang on a trailer is a bit much out on the road. My Mustang is covered up pretty well when I drive it to shows/events but it still has the unmistakable profile of a CHP cruiser, albeit one that has not patrolled the roads in a number of years, and so it has a certain disruptive effect on traffic that can be annoying to a civvie driver, esp. on longer trips.
Too bad my budget can't stretch to an enclosed trailer, that is a very nice way to go. My problem is that for me to start trailering my car, I'd have to buy both a tow rig and a trailer plus find (and probably pay) for a place to store them as I can't park them at my home. $$$$$ |

I tow my CHP car on an open car trailer. My tow vehicle is a 2005 Expedition with the 5.4. it sucks the gas down .

Towing
I tow my SSP with a 2003 Ford F250 Superduty with the 5.4 liter in an open car trailer. If you are considering a "tow truck" stay away from the 5.4 liter even with the "3 valve" offered from 2004 on.
It has NO TORQUE/pulling power and is AWFUL on gas. Buy the diesel or the Chevy 2500HD (that is probable a swear word with the die hard Blue Oval guys) as they are VERY reasonable now due to the fuel cost per gallon.
