The car still wears the white paint it left the CHP with. It was sold in November 1985 with 85,633 miles. The car served in Sonora CA.

Jim, that's great that your card was discovered, despite the fact that I had asked about it before. I hope that Steve continues to have success in future requests for these cards.

Interesting that the front of your card lists no specific usage (similar to mine). At least you were able to determine the CHP Office where it served.

Huh? I see the assignment location (425 = Sonora) marked in the "LOC. CODE" box in the lower right corner on the front of the card. I believe the "Sacto E" notation above it was added when it came back as a runout - was also sometimes written higher up in the lined area.

Michael, I was talking about the top part of the front card. Some of the cards I've seen (like Steve's) had notations in that area about where the car served or how it was used. In contrast, my card was like Jim's. I should have been more clear in my wording (I've been posting via my phone this afternoon while waiting at DMV)

This is somewhat of a repost. Back in August, I was able to provide the seller of the 85 CHP in New Orleans with the Assignment Card for #E408306 -

Using this CHP Office Finder, the car was initially assigned to CHP Office #126 in Garberville, CA, but was immediately exchanged to CHP Office #150 in Ukiah, CA (Northwest of Sacramento). It replaced a 1982 (#E870580), and was replaced with a 1987 (#E422957). The scan doesn't show it well, but you can see on the card where the writer started to describe #8306 as a Dodge Diplomat. Since this car has one of the lowest known Unit Numbers for 1985, I could see where he/she would have written that out of habit (much like dating a personal check in January with the prior year). To my knowledge, this car is still for sale.

I am expecting another Assignment Card to arrive shortly from Mr. Read, which I will certainly post up here. As a teaser, this card should be interesting to see what it says!

Guys, I will add yours to the list. I recently requested 4 cards, and at least one of them should be arriving shortly. Once it/they come in, I will ask again for yours. I try to gang the requests together so I don't abuse the courtesy being extended to me by requesting cards for the group.

That is a great point Bill and I'll reinforce it. Everyone here needs to realize that the search and retreival of these cards is being done by a sole individual on his own time and he's getting requests from far and wide and not just from us so please have patience with the process.
