Default CHP Unit #?

1990 CHP Mustang vin # 1FACP40EXLF170269. DMV site doesn't list plate numbers any more. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Sal, at one point you could fill out a form and submit the VIN to the DMV in California to request a registration history on a vehicle. When I ordered mine on E408395, it listed the CHP as the first owner and included the license plate (i.e. Unit Number). Here is the discussion:

Due to privacy laws, this option may no longer be available. But it is certainly worth a shot. Please let us know how you make out...

Also check the backs of both rear seat cushions and the face of the front plate holder. Unit #s have been known to have been marked on these areas.

Unfortunately got the car totally stripped and freshly painted all black. Lucky just to have the two original front seats. The rest came in boxes. Bought a donor car and putting as much back to original/stock as possible. I'm restoring it for a very good friend, just not going back to "in service".

Thanks for the replies.

Hey Sal,
I dont recall the form I completed for the request, but I paid $5. and got a Registration Information Request print out.
It clearly showed Prior Police and my prev lic #435300. Hope this helps.
