I am selling my 1989 Idaho State Police SSP. I love this car and was very much looking forward to restoring it, but changing life circumstances mean I must part with it.
The vehicle is in great shape. She runs strong, and has original 5.0 engine. It has a 5 speed that shifts very smoothly. Clean Carfax report. I also have a copy of the original title listing the Idaho State Police as the original owner. Vehicle has one small rust spot on the trunk deck, about 3 inches long right on the bend. It hasn't rusted through. Air conditioning and heat both run strong. Drivers side buck tag in place, but the door tag was removed when the car was painted. I have the appropriate police radio, dash light and back deck lights to go with the vehicle and will include them in the sale. I have stripped the interior down to the carpet, dash, drivers seat and headliner. Prior to removing the rest of the interior, it was in great condition, no tears in any of the original upholstery, just your typical installation holes in the other interior panels. I have all the parts in individual bags, with everything labeled on where it came from. It only took a couple hours to strip it down so I don't imagine it would be too difficult to reassemble. The car is currently in Rigby, ID. I'm willing to assist in arrangements to get it to you, whether that be driving it, shipping, meeting you halfway, etc. Pretty motivated to sell the car, might be willing to accept trades for something other than a car, but really just looking for the cash. Last time I posted, none of the photos came through, so if you can't see them I can email them. I have plenty, but have posted just a few here. Email me at sellerguy(at)live.com. Thanks- Chris |

Looks like a very nice ride. Almost too nice to change back to in-service condition unless of course this was an unmarked vehicle. Any other history on it's use?

It does have a bit of an interesting (almost unbelievable but confirmed) back story. ISP ordered their mustangs through Bob Rice Ford (now Lithia Ford) in Boise, ID. The dealership had a large lot in the back that was sectioned off for particular projects or groups of cars. ISP had ordered several mustangs at one time, and the area of the lot they had set aside for ISP's mustangs was not large enough, so one of the ISP mustangs was placed in an adjoining section. Because it was parked in the wrong lot, it was mislabeled by a lot attendant as being a private citizen special ordered mustang. The dealership installed a moonroof in the vehicle without confirming the VIN number before doing so. ISP's order was already behind, and rather than wait for a replacement vehicle, they determined that the moonroof would not interfere with the vehicles operation, nor the installation of the rollbar, and fielded the vehicle anyway. I didn't believe this story until I confirmed this with an ISP installation tech who has been there for many, many years. So this car really is one of a kind. |

As an added FYI, I consulted with a local body shop about filling in the moon roof. This was the most ritzy shop in town, that charges 2x what everybody else would charge. They estimated it would cost $550 to cut a panel and tack weld it in place, then fill out and blend the edges, or $1300 for an entire roof panel, new. Pretty sure you could find a welding shop to cut and tack a panel in place for much cheaper if you did your own filling/blending, and I'm sure you could find a used roof at a wrecking yard for a couple hundred bucks.
