Default radio question

I am looking to replace my radio and have been observing that the rear power plug (the female end) on my stock 93 radio is different than the other radios I have seen on ebay or whatever other site. Is the radio in the SSP different than from those of stock mustangs?

the number on my radio is F3ZF-19B131-AE and all the others I have seen on the net have a '2' instead of the '1' before the 'AE'. I am wondering if that is the difference in the power plug or if it means the radio has a cassette player.....

Not sure what agency yours came from, but many of the SSP cars were not ordered with the premium system. On my '93 FHP (non-premium), both of the plugs are rectangular, v/s my civilian coupe with premium (one square, one rectangular). Non-premium does not have an amp.

Thanks for the info - mine is a 93 FHP as well. Does that mean i need to only get a non-premium (no amp) radio to replace? or can I get a wiring harness adapter for a few bucks and throw in an amped model and have it work?

I just went through this with my '93 because I could not find a '93 non premium radio for mine. I was able to find a '93 premium radio from a board member here and I found an amp complete with the harness on Ebay. It took a while for the search but they are out there.

My '93 CHP did not come with a radio. Eventually, I'd like to get one of those hidden radios installed and put the blank delet back in place.
