Never again (at least not while the car is together).

Yeah, I am actually replacing my dash harness....the guy I got the car from butchered it in places and I have a perfect harness I squirrelled away years ago from a parts car knowing I'd probably need it in the future.
Also...This is why you NEVER...EVER....use a parts store heater core!!! ALWAYS..and I can't stress this enough pay the extra money for a FORD heater core. I have never seen a parts store core last more than a year...usually 3 months to a year. They solder quality is poor and they always come apart or leak. The previous owner stuck in this parts store core and that is why I am replacing it now.....Notice how the tube just slid out in the second picture....I hear people justify the use of the parts store core because it's cheaper....there is a reason it's cheaper and do you really want to do this job a second time because you wanted to save $30? |

+1. Core in my '93 coupe (38k mile one) went in 1996, just out of warranty (time, not mileage..it was low 20s). The parts-store core (NAPA) I used lasted a year. It's bypassed, and on the to-do list, although not anytime soon. I'm also going to that black sealent outta there when I replace it.

Makes me appreciate working on my International Scouts. The core on them is under the hood. Takes about ten minutes to change it out. They last for ever also.
Hopefully the core in my 93 lasts for a long time. That's not a job I want to tackle. |
