Today I received a phone call and in-service photographs of Nevada Highway Patrol unit.089. I have been researching for a long time as to whether my car had a buddy bumper like all of the NHP cars I have seen did. I found a bumper and was mocking up the installation last night and had a bracket that did not fit correctly so stopped.
This morning with the receipt of this information and photographs the research continues. If you notice the whip antenna is low and forward on the car. I was told that it was the installers first day and he incorrectly placed it in this spot. Also the rims are plain 10 holes with no body colored paint in them like some of the earlier NHP cars had. These photos were taken with a polaroid by the trooper in Reno circa 1993. When the unit was brand new.SOO now is the tough decision of whether to put the bumper on or not? I love the research and history of these cars. Enjoy |

If these are the only in-service photos you presently have for the car I'd hold off on installing the buddy bumper. You can always add it later if you find more info that indicates it had one. Like you said the research is a ton of fun on these cars!
