That's the only place I've seen for the unit number.
I've had pretty good luck finding the build sheets behind the rear, interior trim pieces. On the '82 CHP, it was still taped up (drivers side). The '83 TX car had also been on the drivers side, but it had fallen down and I could see the printer paper sticking out when I pulled up the rear seat bottom. The '83 CSP car was the same...sticking out on the passenger side, though, when I pulled up the rear seat. Funny thing about that one...it was the rotation number next to my car (a non-v8 coupe). I went back the next day and found the one for the car still taped up (they had been stuck together when the car was built).
