When all else fails...

I've been looking for the correct Code 3 siren for my SSP for almost 3 years now with no luck. The only difference between a new Code 3 V-CON and a late 80's vintage that was in my car is the stupid plug-in mic, the new ones are fixed in place, a minor detail that was bugging the crap out of me! So, first I got a new V-CON, then I came across an old early 80's Code 3 V-CON without the light controls that was trashed just for the needed plug, then I got an NOS correct plug-in mic from ebay. Next I took everything apart and hooked the old style mic to the new siren and I'm now good to go!

An in-service MO pic with the right siren:

My new "old" siren to be mounted soon:

I also got a brand new late 80's vintage NOS Code 3 LP6000 lightbar that I'll be mounting to replace the current bar when I do the siren.

Very cool! It's amazing what we have to do to get these cars correct. Nice job. :2thumbs:

Great job!!! As a person who knows nothing about CHP, I can't tell a difference between the old and the new/old siren.:2thumbs:

I doubt anyone but me would notice this detail...but in my quest to make my car "perfect" I know it wasn't a correct detail. It's not like there's a whole lot of Missouri Highway Patrol enthusiasts out there to debate with!
