SSP's Hawaiian Style...

Was in Waikiki for 20th ann. last week and saw some interesting police vehicles while I was there. We were staying about 2 blocks from the Waikiki station so got to see what was there on a regular basis. Saw 3 different color 4Runners with the bubble gum lights and on the last day there saw a Q35 with one on it too, none of them had any markings. The Mach1 and Hemi R/T Charger are the ones that caught my eye the most. Saw the Mach1 parked there with lights every day, in addition there were 3-5 marked Crown Vics parked on the other side of the station at all times too. I had heard that officers in Hawaii were allowed a vehicle allowance to purchase and use a car of their choice to use on and off duty. This came from MonteCarloSS.com site as they had some pics posted of a Monte in lights and markings from Hawaii. Was wondering if anyone here knew if that was true or not??

And yes I wish I was still there with temp in 80's instead of 40's and rain in Oregon
