Gauge/Dash Light Will Not Turn Off
 

Hello All,

I'm recent owner of a 92 CHP SSP and new to the site. Although I have owned fox mustangs before I have never a owned a SSP. Over the past few weeks I have been going through the car and have come across few things that has me wondering if the subtle differences are because its a SSP or if something is wrong.

The one thing I have not been able to figure out is that gauge/dash light is always on, even when the headlights are not. The dimmer switch does not adjust the brightness but does turn on/off the dome light. In SSP cars is the dash light always on? If not has, anyone had similar problem with the dash light?

Definitely something wrong there. Have you checked your headlight switch?

Could be the dimmer switch. Mine does the opposite. I try to adjust the dimmer wheel to keep the dash lights on, ( when headlights are on ) but it turns off.
It's a fine line on the adjustment to keep it on when headlights are on.

Dash lights are never on when headlights are off.

I replaced the switch with a newer used one, it was worse.
I am going to purchase a new dimmer switch to solve the issue.

Mike could be right as well, might also be the headlight switch.

The ignition switch in these fox's go bad and cause all kinds of weird unexplained issues. Although I've never experienced the issue you are having I would not rule it out.
