1986 SSP Mustang was originally in service in Phoenix, AZ. DSO # 75-0082 Arizona SSP Package. Last four digits of VIN # 208340 which is listed on the SSP Mustang website. The car is unrestored and the data plate tags are in the original spot on core support. The body is solid and has a 302HO automatic trans. The car still maintains the original transmission cooler which is only on SSP Mustangs. Car has a new Ford Motorcraft fuel pump, new distributor, fresh oil change, new spark plugs, new battery and runs good. The car has the original steel SSP wheels which have been powder coated black and new VR60 tires. $3500 obo. No trades and no calls after 9:00 p.m. Eastern Time. (586) 873-3857.

Location: Chesterfield
I have been texting with the seller to get better pictures, which I will provide if he comes through. There are 2 other Arizona DPS cars in this batch of VINs with the same DSO number.

Did the AZ DPS cars have autos?

Yes, the 1986 Arizona DSP Mustangs were equipped with automatics. Here is a page for another car in that same DSO, which includes a Marti Report -

...and it lists the optional automatic transmission. :)

The seller sent me a couple of pics of the VIN label. It has a different DSO number than the other Arizona DPS Mustangs within the same batch of VINs, which are #75-0082. Interesting!

Any pics of the buck tags to confirm it as a DPS car?

28HopUp 09-05-2013 12:22 PM

I just texted the seller to ask.

I am assuming the cars under both DSOs are equipped the same, since the accessory reserve loads are the same on the door tags. Perhaps the different DSO is only for different paint colors? ...

That group of 18 likely all went to AZ originally. Each has initial registration events in AZ after they would have gone to auction.

I wonder if there was yet another DSO (75-0081?) at the beginning of that group, and the DSOs were split at six each? Or perhaps the majority were white/75-0082 and a few at the end were blue/75-0083?

This is how I think that group of 78 broke down originally:

208295-208317 - Oregon State Police
208318-208324 - Washington State Patrol
208325-208342 - Arizona DPS
208343-208372 - Utah Highway Patrol

Not sure if and if so how it might have worked in AZ but in CA other LE agencies have the ability to "piggyback" orders onto the CHP bids. They have to take the exact specs. of the CHP vehicles with the exception of paint, which they can change with what I believe is an additional cost option. Just throwing out that maybe this is something to think about as a possibility here. :headscratch:
