1985 Mustang CHP Coupe 5.0 5speed LX SSP

This looks like a great car:

1985 Mustang LX 5.0 Notchback, originally served with CHP (one of 155 cars to do so) and is just as it left the CHP auction around '87 even still wearing it's auction repaint. The car has 108k miles on it, drives very nice and tight; the 5 speed shifts very smooth with no synchro grinding. Being a Los Angeles car, it's incredibly solid but does have some patina. All vacuum lines are still hooked up and work (thank you cali-emissions rules) so it actually runs like an '85 should. Interior is in super nice shape for the age, but does need carpet, a dash pad and some cleaning. Certified 140mph speedo is there. All 5 steel wheels with correct '85 argent caps are there (super hard to find) and the car has no frame damage. Very rare to find one of these that hasn't been tweaked. All of the CHP signs are there, unit number on the door (8434) and single key locks are all present. This is a great resto candidate you can drive while you restore and doesn't need any rust repair or hard to find parts to be tracked down. Located in South Austin for $4900 OBO. Call Chris (512)983-6184, NO TRADES -- sorry.

Umm, please put a big red bow on it and have Santa drop it off under my tree. Wish I had the $$$. GLWS.

Dang that's a lot of money. Guess I could have asked for 5k for mine if I wanted to sell it when it was together since it ran and was unmodified.

From the unit #, I would say this was close to the end of the 85 plate/unit # range.

Thanks Jim, I have a few qualified interested parties. The link has tons more pictures... it's rare to find them in this shape. If only I could find another texas car in this condition...

Unit # is 6 after mine (#8428) - and I believe this is likely one of the last - or possibly the last 85 CHP that was run that year based on Unit # sequencing. Nice candidate for a resto. :)

Chris, GLWS on your 85. I think it's a fair price on a solid car. I'm still amazed at the number of 85 CHP Mustangs that have survived. The CHP bought nearly 100 more cars in 1984 than 1985, but there are more 85s still around.

Ryan, your car and this one are very close to the end of the CHP unit number sequence for 1985 Mustangs. The highest unit number from 1985 we've seen so far is the in-service picture of the silver SMPV #E408445. So your 85 and this one are certainly at the tail end of the number sequence. I believe the lowest confirmed unit number so far for 1985 is #E408302.

Strangely, the white letter tires look great on this car. I'm usually not a fan. LOL!. Great looking car. GLWS
