I am offering for sale a toy that I do not have time to play with. It is a 1983 ex North Carolina state trooper car. I got it from a Marine that was at Paris Island and brought it back to Louisiana in 88. It still have most of the SSP package items: 140 speedo, quick truck release, back of seat floor pan support, extra ground straps, 4 speed SROD, 3.08 posi rear end. This was an unmarked unit and has not been cut up. Motor looks to be the original but will need to be rebuilt. Car was slightly wrecked in 95. Put another core support and front cap on the car back then. Parts I used were from a repainted car and paint has fallen off in places. Bell housing starter holes cracked and was never able to find another one for the SROD so it has not run since then. Trans is out of car and non stock headers were lost many years ago. Car is very rough and will need just about everything replaced or rebuild. It has been covered with a canvas army tent and don't know if it did more damage than good. Bottom of doors, fenders and deck lid are very bad. Also has a hole in roof were removable light wore the paint. Have another white 83 hatchback parts with good sheet metal and same interior. Buyer is more than welcome to take any parts off it when it is picked up. Will add more info to listing as I think of it. State made me get a salvage title on the car because it was not running and uninsured. Will be sold with a Permit to Dismantle. Please check with your state on the Laws of titling a salvage vehicle before you bid. All questions welcome.

You won't find an '82 or '83 5.0L Mustang, SSP or otherwise, that came from the factory with an auto trans.

I guess I'm not following.

My point was you could not get a 5.0L with anything but a manual trans in '82 and '83.

This car is one of 1,210 5.0L coupes made in '83, and one of fifty consecutive 5.0L coupe VINs (205020 through 205069).

Rare car....+1 on it being a ton of work.

All the later NCSHP cars were all automatics. Perhaps they didnt like there experience shifting gears.

I think it is odd that the seller is claiming salvage title due to it not running. It does look like it has sat in a salvage yard for 20 years.

Regardless IMO it is a 600.00 car......maybe. Depending on how rusty the subframe, shock towers, and floorpans are.

I think you're right Jim...it would be fun, though, to see one of these 1983 NCSHP SSP's returned to in-service condition.
