Pretty nice car... Will Ford survive long enough for there to be a continuing Ford Pony car?

If they pull their collective heads out of their asses and begin to change the way they do business and start aggressive negotiations with all legacy costs (ie: pentioners, health care for retired workers, LABOR UNIONS) they can transform into a modern, 21st century company and start making money like Toyota, Honda, Hyundai, etc, etc. All of which now have, and are building more, factories in the US.

I can't believe nobody has asked them why they have not already begun very aggressive negotiations with the UAW and other labor unions. It's ludicrous.

And to ask the government for OUR MONEY to prolong their imminent death is even worse. GM's share of the proposed 25 BILLION would only be about 8 Billion which, at the current rate they are shoveling money into the furnace, would only allow them to remain in business for another 6-8 months. Then what?? Nobody seems to get it. GM are acting like a delusional gambling addict who thinks if he can just get another 1000 bucks to bet with he knows his luck is going to change and he will emerge a winner. Bbzzzzzzz. Wrong.

I don't believe they will die. But they do need the spark of bankruptcy to light a fire under their asses in order to get them to reorganize. Mitt Romney wrote a very appropriate article that was published in the NYT.

I think he hits the nail right on the head.
