Arizona blues
Now that the weather has cooled from $$#@! hot to warm, it is a great time of the year to start on the 87. here are a few of how I found it to start the thread off.....
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...p/DSC02340.jpg engine didn't run.... http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...p/DSC02339.jpg interior was in really bad shape! http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...p/DSC02337.jpg http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...ps50828085.jpg pulled engine for a rebuild and cleaned and prepped the compartment... http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...p/DSC02387.jpg a little paint.... http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...p/DSC02396.jpg fresh motor! http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...IMAG0106-1.jpg I started the body work and ended up just painting the front. I was eager to drive it so I put it together, looked odd with the blue front end! http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...p/IMAG0389.jpg http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...psdd9bafd6.jpg http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...p/IMAG0441.jpg http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...ps3df7410c.jpg http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...psf05ae1f2.jpg http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...ps01fc75ba.jpg so today I ripped into the interior, and started sanding the body down for a new regatta blue coat! while I was tearing the nasty carpet and seats out I decided to take the dash out and put a new heater core in. Oh yeah, while I was driving it the supposed rebuilt AOD started giving me serious problems, a rebuild would have cost me over 1K! I purchased a complete 5 speed change over for almost half that. It now sports a manual trans! http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...psd17faf6b.jpg Up next is some painting! |
You just gotta love Regatta Blue :-)
Nice progress ! Can't wait to see it finished ... |

LOVE that color on a Fox Mustang! Please keep the pictures coming... :)

Regatta and Bimini blue are my favorite colors on a coupe. I had a non-SSP 92 Bimini coupe until it was taken out by incompetent dodge van driver. :/

New paint
Here are some pics of the latest progress. Paint is done. I am working on the wiring mess, trying to get the wig/wags and strobes functional.
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...psfeff3e85.jpg In the booth.... http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...psecbfbd43.jpg Regatta blue base coat http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...ps6ed45838.jpg Clear coat.... http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...psf905d364.jpg Here are a few interesting details. The special dome lamp had a pale red lens, or so I thought, until I took it off to take out the old headliner. I found this in the lens! http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...psummsahfw.jpg http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...psswapwskc.jpg I think this wire was for the trucked radio system. Does this look familiar to anyone? http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...psvoj3bmjp.jpg The glove box was cut out for the radio head unit, maybe? http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...ps2ea39e02.jpg One of the things I love about Arizona cars, zero rust! The floors are perfect. http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...psxkzr7klp.jpg http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...pshduqfo8d.jpg http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...ps1da71d3c.jpg This is a fun build. Can't wait to drive it! |
I like how it is turning out.
